After several years of mild activity, Real Madrid have finally taken out their cheque-book and gone into the transfer market with full force this summer. The Merengues were quick to add some much-needed defensive reinforcements to their team, as they landed the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen before starting their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Their transfer activity continued during and after this competition as well, as they also signed Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras.
There have also been some departures, as Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez both left after the CWC, and Los Blancos have also completed the departures of several of their youngsters.
Several clubs interested in Rodrygo Goes
Meanwhile, some of their bigger names are also being linked with exits from the club. This is particularly the case with the Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes, whose position in the team is highly uncertain after the lack of prominence he has faced during the first few weeks of Xabi Alonso’s tenure.
Several big European clubs have been linked with him lately, including Chelsea and Arsenal, whose interest now seems to have cooled down. However, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also in the race for his signature.
Tottenham join the race for the Brazilian
In such a context, Diario AS reports that another Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, has also entered the race for Rodrygo, as they continue to work to strengthen their team to continue their winning momentum after winning the UEFA Europa League last season.
Spurs have also signed the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, and Kevin Danso, and now they are also trying to add the Real Madrid star to their squad for the next season.
Relations between the two clubs are quite good, and Daniel Levy will try to get the forward’s price down from €90 million.
As things stand, none of the interested clubs have contacted Real Madrid for Rodrygo Goes, and there have only been some informal contacts with his entourage. The player, currently on vacation, will talk with Xabi Alonso before making any decision about his future, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.
