Real Madrid predicted starting XI vs Manchester City | UCL

Date:

Real Madrid once again showed their class in the UEFA Champions League last week as they beat Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie. However, the Merengues’ job is still not done, and they will have to ensure there are no upsets as they face the Citizens once again tonight at the Etihad in the second leg of the round.

Although important players like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham made it to the squad list for this match, they are still not expected to start. As a result, Alvaro Arbeloa is likely to go into tonight’s game with the following lineup:

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois is once again expected to be crucial as Manchester City would be looking to overturn their deficit with a highly attacking plan.

Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

The Englishman is expected to start on the right flank as he returns to England, but would have to put in a better shift defensively against Jeremy Doku than he did in the first leg.

Centre-back: Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger’s experience, physicality, and skills would once again be differential against players like Erling Haaland.

Centre-back: Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen has already played against English sides during his time with Bournemouth, and this experience could prove to be crucial tonight.

Left-back: Eduardo Camavinga

With Ferland Mendy unavailable and Alvaro Carreras just returning from a spell on the sidelines, Eduardo Camavinga is expected to start at the left flank, especially because of his defensive abilities. Fran Garcia could be another option.

Defensive Midfielder: Aurelien Tchouameni

The Frenchman has been arguably the most important player for Real Madrid recently, and a good performance from him is required if the Merengues are to advance to the quarter-finals.

Central Midfielder: Federico Valverde

Federico Valverde would be the main attraction on the pitch for Real Madrid fans, especially after the hat-trick he scored in the first leg.

Central Midfielder: Thiago Pitarch

The Merengue fans would once again be keen to see the youngster on the pitch after his good performances in the last three games.

Attacking Midfielder: Arda Guler

The Turk would have to put in an extra defensive shift in addition to his default duties as the team’s main playmaker.

Center Forward: Vinicius Junior

The Brazilian star would once again lead the team’s attack, especially if Kylian Mbappe does not start.

Center-forward: Brahim Diaz

The Moroccan forward would accompany the Brazilian in attack, and hopefully would be able to question the Manchester City defense.
