Real Madrid could launch a late-market move for 26-year-old Liverpool star – Report

Date:

Real Madrid have already made several moves in this summer transfer window to strengthen their team, mainly the defence. The Merengues have added some very exciting players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Alvaro Carreras, and all of them are expected to be the starters in their backline for the next season.

However, even with these additions, one can argue that they still have a rather weak central defence. The physical conditions of players like Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Eder Militao, and the poor form of Raul Asencio, raise doubts about who will partner with Huijsen in the centre of the defence for the next season.

Real Madrid looking to make an offer for Ibrahima Konate this summer

In such a context, Diario AS reports that Real Madrid are still not done in the market and can make a move for the Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in the last days of the transfer market. Meanwhile, the Merseyside club is looking to counter the Merengues with a renewal offer for the centre-back.

The Frenchman is the clear candidate for Los Blancos to further strengthen their defence, and the report claims they have already approached the Premier League side to inquire about their requirement to let him leave.

The Merengues looking for a repeat of Trent formula

The centre-back can join Real Madrid for free next summer, but the Whites are looking for a repeat of the Trent formula to allow Liverpool to not lose him for free. The Merengues are hoping that the great expenditures made by the English side this summer will push them to accept their offer.

For now, the Premier League champions are demanding €40-50 million for him, while the Spaniards will be looking to offer around €20-25 million. However, Arne Slot already has only three centre-backs in his squad after Quansah left, and thus, Liverpool would not be willing to lose another key defender without a suitable replacement.

The player himself has already expressed his keenness to leave the English club for Real Madrid this summer, but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to play for Xabi Alonso next season.
