FC Barcelona have made one solid addition to the squad this summer, signing 24-year-old Spanish shot-stopper Joan Garcia from Espanyol and have also made a developmental acquisition in the form of Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen.
However, there are positions that the club might still be looking to reinforce ahead of the new season, including a new left-winger and full-back depth. While not imperative, having a quality right-sided or left-sided defender to provide squad depth might be a good choice.
Now, as per FC Inter 1908, super-agent Jorge Mendes met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, Deco & co. and the meeting wasn’t just to extend pleasantries. As per the report, Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries was offered to the Catalan club.
Jorge Mendes offers Denzel Dumfries to Barcelona

The Netherlands right-back is said to have a €25m release clause, which makes him a very attainable target this summer. Excellent going forward and adept defensively, he would be a very contrasting profile to Jules Kounde.
The catch here is that Barcelona need to make a decision within the coming week during which he will be available for this price and from the player’s end, he is willing to sign for the Catalan club almost immediately if given the chance.
Dumfries’ name was discussed in reference to Barcelona a few weeks ago as the Catalan club were looking at a physical presence on the right flank who can cover the entire side of the pitch, providing tactical flexibility to Hansi Flick.
A signing they could live without
Jeremie Frimpong was another name that was explored, but Dumfries’ compatriot moved to Liverpool this summer. Now, Deco & co. have to decide along with the German coach on whether they want to sign the 29-year-old.
Ultimately, this is a signing that Barcelona can live without, considering they already have Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia to play in that position. Should they move to sign him, he wouldn’t be a bad addition to the squad and it remains to be seen how things play out.
