FC Barcelona have done pretty well so far this summer transfer window, wrapping up deals for Joan Garcia from Espanyol and Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen, and have reached an agreement in principle to sign Marcus Rashford on loan.
Hansi Flick already has a very talented squad at his disposal, and the addition of these players only makes it further stronger. With the exception of Ansu Fati, there haven’t been any major exits either, although a few more might be along the way.
Now, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has asked the club to now try and sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries after the club has all but wrapped up a deal to bring in Marcus Rashford. However, the report mentions that the Italian side could ask for €40m.
Barcelona yet to make an approach for Denzel Dumfries

The Dutch wing-back’s name has been linked in reference to the Catalan club this summer. Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio revealed yesterday that Barcelona had made no approach to sign the 29-year-old yet, although he did confirm the presence of a release clause which is believed to be around €25m.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes even offered the defender to Barcelona some time ago, and the club could now return for the talented wing-back. Dumfries could add something very unique to Hansi Flick’s team with his attacking impetus and physicality.
Although Dumfries has played much of his football as a wing-back in a back-5 at Inter, he has the quality it takes to transition to a back-4, especially in a team like Barcelona, which keeps the ball and dominates the attack in most games.
A new role for Kounde?

Hansi Flick has Jules Kounde as his starting right-back, and he can continue to be the chosen one for big games when the German coach wants defensive solidity, but the arrival of Dumfries would also allow the Frenchman to play in his preferred center-back position.
Ultimately, considering the finances of the deal, it would make a lot of sense for Barcelona to sign Dumfries this summer, provided they have the FFP room to do so. The coming weeks could provide further clarity on this situation, and let’s wait and see how things play out.
