FC Barcelona started off the summer transfer window with an excellent deal to sign Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol. The Catalan club also brought in Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen as a developmental bet for the future.
After a few weeks of lull, things have kicked off yet again at the Catalan club, who have now reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Marcus Rashford on loan with an option to buy for around €30m with the player taking a 15% wage cut.
For the past couple of days, the name on the lips of all Blaugrana fans has been Rashford, with each one having an opinion on what the 27-year-old could bring to the table. The Englishman can add a lot of quality to Hansi Flick’s team even if he isn’t a regular starter.
Cucurella endorses Rashford move

Now, Chelsea star and former La Masia full-back Marc Cucurella, in an interview with Jijantes via Mundo Deportivo, has highlighted one possible advantage that could work in Marcus Rashford’s favor at Barcelona.
“He’s very fast, and he’ll notice the difference in pace between the leagues. He’s used to the intensity of that league [the Premier League], and I think he’ll cause problems here because of that difference.”
Cucurella also had some words of praise for his former team. He said:
“I was very surprised—I didn’t expect it.”
Cucurella – where talent didn’t meet opportunity
Cucurella was one of the biggest talents coming out of the La Masia academy during what was a very barren time in the conveyor belt. However, the presence of Jordi Alba in the first team, who was in his prime years, didn’t allow the Catalan full-back to get an opportunity.
However, the 27-year-old took a brave decision to move elsewhere. Initially, he made a name for himself at Getafe before moving to the Premier League and enjoying a stellar season at Brighton. Now, he finds himself as one of Chelsea’s most important players.
Having played both in Spain and England, Cucurella’s observation of Rashford’s game could turn out to be handy at Barcelona. Let’s wait and see if the Englishman’s pace proves to be a differential factor in La Liga.
