Barcelona negotiate to agree favourable buy-option for Marcus Rashford – Report

Date:

FC Barcelona are closing in on their next arrival of the summer with an agreement in principle with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford. The English forward is expected to be on his way to Spain in the coming days.

The Catalan club has been searching for a new left-winger this summer for quite some time now. Getting the Englishman on loan with an option to buy is an excellent deal for Barcelona, from a financial point-of-view.

Now, as per journalist Mateo Moretto via MARCA, Barcelona have negotiated a favourable €35million buy-option with Manchester United. The Red Devils were initially pushing for a sale, and then a loan with a buy-option of €50million but the Catalan club has managed to pull it down.

Barcelona get favourable buy-option for Rashford

We covered a story earlier where David Ornstein had mentioned that Barcelona will be covering 100% of his wages this season but there was no clarity on whether or not the Englishman would accepting a wage cut to sign for the Catalan club.

Even that has been clarified now by transfer insider Ben Jacobs, who has now revealed that Rashford has agreed to a massive wage cut and will be earning around €10m-gross, including bonuses. This concession will allow Barcelona to sign the player.

Every single detail emerging about this deal makes it look like a big win for Barcelona. They have managed to sign Rashford on very favourable terms and should he end up coming good, they can sign him for absolute peanuts next summer.

Excellent deal for the Catalan club

It does look like Barcelona have taken advantage of Man Utd’s need to sell this summer to reinforce their own squad. It feels good for once to be on the right side of these kind of negotiations and we get to walk away with a player as good as Marcus Rashford.

It remains to be seen when the Catalan club will make the signing of Rashford official and how he performs in Hansi Flick’s team. After a few weeks of lull, it looks like Barcelona are back on track this summer and the future promises to be exciting.
