FC Barcelona have a pre-season tour to Asia on their horizon in the next few days and Hansi Flick will be looking keenly in training as he decides who he wants to include in the touring party. The German coach is set to have almost the entire first-team squad available at his disposal.
Barcelona have been training in preparation for the pre-season for the past few days. Reserve team players have been called up to train with the seniors with young talents like Jofre Torrents and Pedro Fernandez expected to make the flight amongst others.
One first-team player who is not training with the first-team squad at the moment due to a supposed physical issue is Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The club captain’s future is still very much in the air even as he continues to nurse a back issue.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will miss the pre-season trip
Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will not be on the flight with the rest of the squad for their trip to Asia for the pre-season. The German goalkeeper is yet to decide whether or not to go under the knife to rectify the issue.
Regardless, with him not training with the first team, Ter Stegen is expected to stay behind at Barcelona. Meanwhile, the club continue to wait and see what the veteran shot-stopper decides, regarding his surgery.
It could directly dictate Barcelona’s short-term and long-term plans. Should Ter Stegen go under the knife, the club could use 80% of his salary to register a new arrival and Joan Garcia’s registration becomes seamless in this regard.
Registration issues

It must be noted that the club can add only one player using Ter Stegen’s injury and Wojciech Szczesny will still have to wait for his registration to go through. Regardless, both players are expected to be a part of the squad that travels to Asia this summer.
The next few days could reveal what Marc-Andre Ter Stegen decides to do regarding his back issue. The German shot-stopper has a huge decision to make regarding his career in a World Cup year, and let’s wait and see how his decision influences Barcelona’s summer plans in the coming weeks.
