Thiago Pitarch’s rise is gathering real speed, and his latest display for Spain Under-19s will only add to the feeling in Madrid that another important Castilla talent is pushing hard for greater prominence. In Spain’s 4-0 win over Slovenia in the Elite Round, the midfielder looked like the player setting the terms of the game.
According to MARCA, the match in Benidorm moved to Pitarch’s rhythm, with the Real Madrid youngster constantly demanding the ball and keeping control of the tempo. Spain won comfortably, Daniel Yanez opening the scoring from the penalty spot before Diego Aguado, Diallo and Hugo Lopez completed the rout.
That is what should catch the eye of Madrid supporters most. This was not a story built on a flashy goal or a viral moment. It was about control, authority and the kind of midfield presence that makes a good team feel calm and organised. Pitarch’s rise has been so heart-warming to see.
The report went on to suggest that the Under-19 level is already starting to look too small for him. During this international break, his name was reportedly around the Spain Under-21 conversation, but the importance of the current qualification phase kept him with the younger side instead.
That says plenty on its own. A jump to the Under-21s at 18 would already have been significant, and the fact it was even being discussed shows how highly he is currently regarded. He looks like the biggest talent to have emerged out of Real Madrid’s academy in quite a while now.
His performances for Arbeloa’s side since his debut have been wonderful to watch. Pitarch is showing an unique ability to control the midfield which is something Madrid are lacking in. He has so far not looked out of place and the U-19 is a level too low for him based on a small sample size.
It remains to be seen how things play out on this front and how Pitarch fares for Madrid in the coming months.
