Injury-hit Real Madrid star refuses quiet farewell – working at 200% to return for preseason

Date:

Real Madrid had a forgettable 2024-25 season in which they were unable to win any major trophy despite being one of the most star-studded teams in Europe. The Merengues faced several problems in that season, and the club and their new coach, Xabi Alonso, still have a lot of work to do to get rid of these problems.

One of the most prominent of these problems was the very thin defensive line, as Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, and David Alaba all remained out of action for almost the entirety of the season, and Ferland Mendy also spent a good part of the season on the sidelines.

Things have already improved in this aspect, as Los Blancos have signed the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Alvaro Carreras to bolster their defence, and are still reported to be looking to sign another defender.

David Alaba driven to turn his situation around

Meanwhile, injured players like Militao, Carvajal, and Alaba are also getting closer to full fitness. Among these players, the centre-back David Alaba is facing a particularly crucial season ahead, as he now has only one year remaining on his contract, but has been unable to perform well due to his physical problems.

In such a context, MARCA reports that the defender is committed to turning around the situation that he has been facing since December 2023, as he wants to leave Real Madrid with a positive impression.

For this purpose, the Austrian is working at 200%, and has engaged a team of professionals who take care of every detail of his physical and mental health. He has a clear goal in mind: to eliminate his injury problems and be in top condition for the start of preseason training on August 4th.

No talks for renewal

Despite there being only one year left on his contract, there have been no talks for a renewal, and some people at Real Madrid already believe his time at the club to be over.

Meanwhile, David Alaba is also clear that he is not going to leave this summer, and will give his all in the final year of his contract, and then, if he has to leave, to say goodbye in the best possible manner.

However, he has not entirely lost faith in a renewal, but understands that only an excellent season can allow him to remain at the Merengue club beyond the next season.
