FC Barcelona have one of the best young squads in Europe, and the Catalan club has made further reinforcements this summer, signing Joan Garcia from Espanyol as a new goalkeeping option and Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen as a developmental bet.
The Catalan club has also finalized an agreement with Manchester United to sign Marcus Rashford on loan with an option to buy. With the Englishman, Barcelona have managed to sign a versatile forward who reinforces the left wing.
However, it looks like Barcelona’s interest in a new left-winger doesn’t stop with just Rashford. As per Brazilian outlet UOL (h/t Metro.co.uk), the Catalan club is eyeing a shock move to sign Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo, who seems to be out of Xabi Alonso’s project.

A shock transfer that could break football
Should this transfer saga progress, this is one that could genuinely break football. Barcelona and Real Madrid are arguably one of the biggest rivalries in European club football, and this has been the case for decades now.
Unsurprisingly, the two clubs do not generally transfer players among one another, and the last time a high-profile star made a direct transfer from one club to another, it was Luis Figo, who was treated with absolute hostility during his subsequent visits to the Camp Nou.
The rivalry has only grown through the years thanks to the Jose Mourinho – Pep Guardiola era, and as good a player as Rodrygo may be, Barcelona’s interest in him is a bit difficult to buy. That said, the Brazilian leaving Real Madrid is a concrete possibility this summer.
Rodrygo is definitely not short of interest this summer, with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool interested in signing him this summer. The €90 milion-rated attacker has a contract with Real Madrid until 2028, and it would come as a complete shock should Florentino Perez entertain any offer from Barcelona.
Barcelona move unlikely

Labelled ‘most gifted’ in the Real Madrid squad by his own teammate Jude Bellingham, it is clear that everyone at Real Madrid rates Rodrygo very highly. Unfortunately for him, though, he is way too similar to both Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. to functionally co-exist in the same team.
However, should he be given the left-wing position, Rodrygo has what it takes to become a superstar in his new club. Although highly unlikely, the prospect of the Brazilian and Lamine Yamal on either flank is lip-smacking. That said, it is important not to get carried away.
The next few weeks should give a clear idea of the trajectory of this transfer, and in all likelihood, the Barcelona links should fizzle out. It remains to be seen how things play out.
