Barcelona set to accelerate departure of 23-year-old Spaniard with Rashford deal imminent – Journalist

Date:

FC Barcelona made a brilliant start to the summer transfer window, but things have slowed down in recent weeks. All that changed today when it emerged that the Catalan club had reached an agreement in principle with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford.

Rashford comes to the club with a lot of anticipation. This is a very favourable deal for the Catalan club, which is signing the 27-year-old on an initial loan with an option to buy, and the potential upsides of this transfer are manifold.

Now, as per journalist Toni Juanmarti, it was Hansi Flick who pushed to secure the signing of Rashford as soon as possible. The player has agreed to sign for Barcelona without any guarantees for registration, and his desire to wear the Blaugrana is obvious.

The journalist has also revealed that Barcelona are now set to accelerate the departure of out-of-favour Spanish forward Pau Victor. The 23-year-old has been a fringe player for Hansi Flick and could leave, with more competition coming his way.

Pau Victor joined Barcelona on a permanent basis last summer and made an impression during pre-season. However, the presence of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres meant he hardly saw much game time last season.

In Rashford, Barcelona are signing a player who might predominantly be looked at as a left-winger by Hansi Flick, but should the need arise, he would be able to lead the line as the number nine and fill the void. Thus, it makes sense to move Pau Victor on.

Better for the experience

It remains to be seen if there are any clubs interested in the 23-year-old Spaniard. Pau Victor is a player with a lot of potential, but at Barcelona, he doesn’t have what it takes to be a regular starter at the highest level.

The next few weeks should provide a clearer picture of what the future holds for the ex-Girona man. He should be trying to find a club that guarantees him regular game time, and as for Barcelona, he will always be better for the experience.
