Juventus are now weighing up move for €50m Premier League forward also linked with Barcelona – Report

Date:

FC Barcelona, led by director of recruitment Deco, have baffled one and all with their transfer business so far this summer. While they made all the right noises in bringing in Joan Garcia from Espanyol, things have gone downhill since.

The Catalan club spent some time trying to secure Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, only for the move to fall through and for the player to sign a 10-year contract with the Basque club and since then, their left-wing targets have been mixed.

One player whom the Catalan club want to sign is Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. The Englishman dreams of a move to Barcelona and having fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim, he could be available for a decent price this summer.

Now, as per Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Italian giants Juventus are considering a move for the €50m-rated Premier League attacker. They are interested in the Englishman but haven’t yet made a final decision on whether they want to pursue him. Ultimately, it could depend on player departures.

Juventus are on the cusp of a new project under Igor Tudor and have been making some moves in the market. Signing Rashford would give them a versatile forward capable of playing in multiple roles in attack and they could rival Barcelona for his signature.

Earlier, we covered a story revealing how Liverpool were willing to break a decade-long sabbatical to finally sign a player from Manchester United directly, with the Merseyside club also being named as an interested party for Rashford.

The desire to wear Blaugrana

Despite all this interest in the Man Utd outcast, one thing that Barcelona have going for them is the player’s desire to wear Blaugrana. Despite Deco & co. not yet making a concrete move for him this summer, he seems to be the best bet from a financial and quality perspective.

Should Barcelona sign Rashford, they would give Hansi Flick a player with immense potential who is waiting to be liberated. With the additional motivation of an England berth during a World Cup year, Camp Nou could see a very motivated 27-year-old who tries to return to the top of his game. It remains to be seen if the club end up signing him in the coming weeks and what formula they manage to agree with the Red Devils.
