Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso are embarking on a new era. For a club as prestigious as Los Blancos, going trophyless last season would have been a cruel blow, and the Spanish tactician will want to right the wrongs this year.
Arch-rivals Barcelona beat Madrid every single time they faced them last season, and Xabi Alonso & co. will be keen to seek revenge. Los Merengues have made some brilliant moves in the transfer market to reinforce the squad, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen amongst others.
However, it looks like Real Madrid might also have to make some sacrifices this summer to balance out a squad that is currently bloated with superstars. We recently covered a story revealing widespread interest in Rodrygo, who might leave the club.
Pep Guardiola wants Real Madrid midfield star Eduardo Camavinga

Now, as per a report from Fichajes, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to add Real Madrid midfield star Eduardo Camavinga to his squad as soon as possible. The Frenchman has been an important part of Los Blancos’ team in recent seasons.
Man City are aware that it won’t be easy to convince Real Madrid to part ways with the 22-year-old Frenchman, but are confident that a significant financial package could alter their stance. However, Xabi Alonso & co. should not even consider this.
Camavinga is one of the most talented players in the squad, and at a relatively young age, he is already one of the first names on the team sheet. He is versatile and can also play at left-back, making him an invaluable squad profile.
Much-needed midfield depth

Midfield is one of those areas where Madrid are struggling and have even lost Luka Modric this summer to AC Milan. There isn’t much depth in that area, and retaining Camavinga ahead of an important season is imperative.
It remains to be seen how much Man City are willing to bid for the €60 million-rated Frenchman, if they do, and if it tempts Real Madrid to part ways with him. It would be a huge surprise to see that happen, but weirder things have happened in football. Let’s wait and see how things play out.
