Although Real Madrid were unable to achieve their objective of winning the FIFA Club World Cup, the Merengue team still showed some promising signs under their new coach, Xabi Alonso.
Los Blancos were able to make it to the semi-final stage, where they had to face perhaps the most in-form football team in the world, Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain. Unfortunately, the Whites suffered a 4-0 defeat and crashed out of the competition.
Still, there were a lot of positives to take away from this competition, and the most prominent of these was, undoubtedly, the performances of the forward Gonzalo Garcia. With Kylian Mbappe unavailable for most of the competition, the Spaniard took full advantage of the situation and came out as the top scorer of the competition with 4 goals.
Gonzalo Garcia wants to continue at Real Madrid

These performances helped greatly increase his demand in the transfer market, and several big European sides, including three Premier League giants and another powerhouse from the Serie A, have shown an interest in him.
However, according to Diario AS, Garcia wants only to continue at Real Madrid, and if everything goes to plan, he will remain under Alonso’s command for the next season.
The youngster has a contract till 2027 with the Merengue club, and his agent is already looking for a renewal, which will confirm him as a first-team player with a corresponding salary increase and an improved release clause.
Challenges ahead
The forward currently has a release clause of €50 million, which makes him an attractive target for many big clubs. However, Gonzalo Garcia wants only to succeed at Real Madrid, even though he understands that chances would not be as ample as they were in the CWC with Mbappe being the fixed starter.
However, he is confident he can beat Endrick to be the first option to replace the French superstar, and hopefully, his decision to stay will turn out to be the right one.
