21-year-old Real Madrid forward taking full advantage of his opportunities in the FIFA Club World Cup

Date:

Real Madrid are having quite a mixed FIFA Club World Cup so far. They were able to get only a draw in their opening game of the competition against the Saudi side Al-Hilal, and their performance on the pitch also reminded everyone why they have been unable to win any major trophy this season.

However, their display in the second game, against Pachuca, was highly encouraging, as they were able to get a 3-1 win despite having to play the majority of the match with a numerical disadvantage.

Several Real Madrid players stood out in this second game, as Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Federico Valverde scored the goals.

Similarly, Trent also showed some glimpses of his skills as he put in a great ball that ended up in the team’s second goal. Dean Huijsen was also once again incredible in defence, while Thibaut Courtois also made several crucial saves.

However, the one player whose performance would have excited the Merengue fans the most would be the 21-year-old forward Gonzalo Garcia.

After a good performance in the game against Al-Hilal, the forward again shone against the Mexicans, and did not really give any reason to the coach, Xabi Alonso, or the fans to miss Kylian Mbappe a lot.

His most notable action in this game was laying off the ball perfectly from a Trent cross for Guler to take a touch and put the ball into the back of the net.

Before that, he was also crucial in the first goal, as his quick thinking with a backheel pass allowed Fran Garcia to break and put in a ball for Jude Bellingham, who made no mistake finishing a thunderous attack.

Against Al-Hilal, he was the only goalscorer for Real Madrid, and against Pachuca, he showed his great link-up skills with these crucial moves.

Kylian Mbappe’s illness, Endrick’s injury, and Xabi Alonso’s trust has allowed the youngster to showcase his skills at the highest level, but if his performances with the reserve team are taken into consideration, these performances should not really come as a surprise. Last season, he scored 25 goals and provided 2 assists in the Primera Federacion.

Hopefully, Gonzalo Garcia would have impressed Xabi Alonso enough with these performances to get regular chances to play in the next season.
